Assessing Students’ Mathematical Knowledge with Fuzzy Logic

Assessing student mathematical knowledge is an important factor in the mathematics learning process because students obtain feedback to improve their and learning. Despite importance of assessment, several researchers have shown that grades comprise noncognitive metacognitive factors teachers’ prejudices beliefs. One method a more objective view through standardized assessments. In this paper, we analyze two methods assessing by considering written oral achievements on Italian National Assessment Knowledge (INVALSI). The final grade was produced using fuzzy logic inference system. It tested sample 2279 Grade 13 high school students, who had both took INVALSI assessment year 2020–2021. Both fuzzy-logic-based lowered mean grades.
